The Pudding Chronicles: #1, Root Beer Float

For my first pudding shot, I went with a safe one that sounded unbelievable. The first time I brought these out at a party, everyone was highly skeptical, until one brave little soul went for it, saying "It's only pudding, how bad can it be?" The resulting response from that brave little soul? He guarded the shots all night and was refusing to share. Finally, I pried the plate from his hands so others could try, and it was unanimous! Now these are also being raved over, and demanded at every party.

To make pudding shots, you stray from the directions on the box and start to get creative and experiemental. The pudding won't set properly with the added alcohol, so you need to find something to thicken it. So, the creativity unfolds. The method I found that works best uses:

1 package of Jello brand pudding (for this I used vanilla)
1/2 c Cool Whip (also helps it set lots faster)
1/2 c alcohol (root beer vodka or root beer schnapps)
1 c milk

And putting it together is super simple! Mix the jellol with the milk and alcohol first, then add cool whip, portion into cups and serve! Also, if you have extra cool whip, you can pipe it on top of the shot to make it extra cute and yummy!

Enjoy!

Lemon Drop

Good day bloggers!! Today's post is the lemon drop jello shot. Always a crowd favorite, especially if it is mixed well - too much booze and you have that paint thinner taste - nasty! So for the lemon drop, as I said, done right equals amazing taste and one of those nights where you don't know when you got drunk, you just know that all of a sudden you are.

Lemon Drop Jello Shot:

1 package Lemon Jello
1 c boiling water
1/2 c lemon vodka or lemon liquer (for vodka, less than 1/2 a cup is usually better, go for 1/3rd instead)
1/2 c cold water

Mix according to the directions on the jello box!

I've recently started experimenting with pudding shots as well - stay tuned for the pudding chronicles!

Bottle Cap Jelo

Good day internets! I am back with the first amazing jello shot recipe. This is a fan favorite - so much so that it is requested at every birthday, UFC event, or other party I have people over for. It turns out an unusual color depending on which recipe you use, but it tastes unbelieveable!

Since my hubby and I argue over how a botle cap is made, I've done two separate recipes - my way and his way. Both are tasty. He was a bartender, and claims he always made a bottle cap as raspberry sourpuss, butter ripple schnapps, lime and seven up. I've always had it as raspberry sourpuss, root beer schnapps, lime and seven up. Either way, still tastes great.

Recipe #1: Butter ripple

Raspberry Jello
1 c boiling water
1/2 c raspberry sourpuss
1/2 c butter ripple schnapps
1 "dash" real lime*

Recipe #2: Root Beer

Raspberry Jello
1 c boiling water
1/2 c raspberry sourpuss
1/2 c root beer schnapps
1 "dash" real lime*

*Use the real lime juice (you know, it comes in the plastic lime shaped bottle) since it has very concentrated lime flavoring, so a small amount will add enough of a tang to make it worthwhile.

You can also modify it to use lime jello instead of the raspberry jello and skip the real lime juice altogether.

Happy shooting!!

Getting Going!

Good day internets!!

It seems that jello shots often come out for every party I attend, and each time I try and get adventurous. Everyone tries the plain vodka route and hates them, the powers through them swiftly to try and just finish the damn things. After a few friends made jello that can only be described as paint thinner flavored, I decided to take it upon myself to make better ones - and have been successful ever since. This blog will simply track my ideas, and their success and failures as I have adventures in blending alcohol with jello and creating an exceptional jello-y goodness. Also, if anyone reading this has managed to come up with some epic recipes, let me know!!  Keep posted for a recipe later this week!
